SURGERY OVERVIEW
Durham Road Clinic has been established in the community for over 40years and being the first and longest existing surgery in Sunshine, patient care and evidence based practice is at the core of our philosophy in delivering both preventative and episodic healthcare. Our two principle doctors, that established the surgery 40 years ago, continue to actively care for patients to this day and have a loyal patient following that spans several generations.
We are undergoing a complete cosmetic refurbishment of the surgery but as it does not involve any structural changes this does not affect normal day to day patient care. Durham Road Clinic is only five minutes from the city trains, shopping centres, public hospitals, schools and the business hub of Sunshine.

SURGERY LAYOUT
Durham Road Clinic has: 1 Treatment room, 5 consulting rooms, a separate nurses room, separate Podietrist room and staff lunch room. All rooms have natural light via frosted windows, LEDs for lighting and central air-conditioning. Onsite parking is available for doctors.
SURGERY FACILITIES
Our surgery hours are Monday to Friday: 8am to 5pm and Saturday: 9am to 1pm. We currently have 4 doctors on staff, (1 fulltime and 3 part-time), making two FTE doctors. We have two doctors consulting all day, every day.
TREATMENT ROOM
We have a 1 bed treatment room with all the necessary equipment for emergencies, minor surgeries and skin cancer treatment.
Our nurses also have a separate room for care plans. Our equipment includes a spirometer, audiology machine, ABPI machine and Defibrillator.
ADMIN SETUP
Our admin staff are made up of 1 full time practice manager and 4 reception staff. We are an accredited practice using a combination of computer & paper files (older doctors). Any new incoming doctor can expect to be almost completely paperless using Pracsoft and Medical Director.
NURSING SERVICES
Durham Road Clinic has 2 full time EN nurses and one part-time RN. Our nurses are Immunisation qualified.
ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES
We have the following allied health professionals consulting on a sessional basis each week: Podietrist, Dietitian, diabetes educator, clinical psychologist, physiotherapist,
SPECIALIST SERVICES
We have a visiting Opthalmologist. Sunshine Hospital (located only 7km away) offers a full range of specialist services.
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
Our surgery has onsite pathology collection whilst radiology is located only 2km away.

PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS
Durham Road Clinic has a patient base in excess of 20,000. Our local community is a very multicultural one with a wide range of ethnic groups and languages spoken. Our patients are equally from a wide range of backgrounds including: working, retired, professionals, industrial, whited collar, aged.
BILLING ARRANGEMENTS
We are primarily a bulk billing surgery but privately bill Medicals, license renewals, pre-employment medicals, vaccinations and dressings.
PATIENT FLOWS
Our appointment schedule operates on 10 minute appointments with one set aside each hour for emergencies or catch up. Our doctors would see 5 patients per hour on average, or up to 50 patients per day. Our longer standing doctors are currently booked out one week in advance.
TOWN/SUBURB FACILITIES
Sunshine is a growing suburb in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. It is only 15 minutes by car to Melbourne CBD and easily accessed by train. Sunshine CBD and the Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre are only 2km away.
SKILLS OR INTERESTS SOUGHT
An interest in Women’s Health would be an asset as we have considerable unmet demand in this area.
CIRCUMSTANCES
We have a doctor leaving in July and persistent high patient demand with up to 6 new patients per day.
CONTRACT TERMS
Durham Road Clinic are offering a very generous percentage rate and a guaranteed income for the first three months, to give you plenty of time to settle in. We have a 19AB exemption available for doctors who may require it. There is plenty of flexibility in our roster to accommodate your family commitments and no after hours requirements.
LOCUM TERMS
VR Locum 65% billings
GENERAL COMMENTS
We are not in a DWS area but can obtain a 19AB exemption for 6 months for a locum GP
We have wonderful nursing and admin staff and can provide fabulous conditions to any incoming doctor.
