Family Doctor Service are seeking the services of a fulltime General Practitioner to replace our doctor who is leaving for greener pastures overseas. Located in the historic city of Launceston our surgery has established a strong connection to our local community over many decades.

SURGERY OVERVIEW

Family Doctor Service have been established in Kings Meadows for over 30 years and under the current ownership since 2004.

We are committed to providing free and quality ongoing support to all members of our community with our patients well-being in the forefront of our mind. We have a loyal team of professional practitioners and staff dedicated to providing ongoing support for all our patient’s health care needs. Our established services are interwoven with preventative care to keep patients healthy now and in the future.

We have a philosophy of providing a whole patient approach to diagnosis and treatment that is accessible to all members of our community.

Kings Meadows is located only 10km from Launceston city centre. It has many local shops, including four banks, a shopping mall, supermarkets, coffee and food, etc.

SURGERY OWNERSHIP

Family Doctor Service is a family owned clinic, purchased by the current owners in 2004.

There may be opportunities for partnership offered to an incoming doctor.

SURGERY LAYOUT

Our practice has five consulting rooms and two treatment rooms, along with storage, staff, reception and waiting room areas.

The practice facilities are neat, clean and equipped with modern equipment. All rooms have individually controlled aircon, natural light, large working desks and comfortable chairs. The practice offers onsite parking is available for doctors as well as disabled access, and separate staff & patient toilets.

SURGERY FACILITIES

Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 6.00pm. We have 3-4 doctors working on the average day and schedule patients in 15 minute appointments. Our computer systems are based on Pracsoft and Medical Director.

The Launceston After Hours Service looks after our after-hours requirements and the doctors share an on call roster for emergencies.

TREATMENT ROOM

We have two treatment rooms, one of which is equipped with a bed the other with a standard consulting setup. Our rooms are set up for procedures, iron infusions and emergencies.

Our clinical equipment includes a complete resuscitation trolley, ecg, spirometry, autoclave, ear syringing, hyfrocator, fully equipped for small procedures.

ADMIN SETUP

The doctors are very well supported by nurses, administrative, reception staff, practice manager and IT support.

We have 2 front reception staff, 1 admin staff member, 1 RN a practice mananger and excellent IT support.

The practice is fully computerised using Medical Director and Pracsoft and we are AGPAL accredited.

NURSING SERVICES

The practice has one RN who is available all day.

Using the recall system we achieve good patient turnaround and put in place preventative health measures. We send letters to patients to educate them on importance of regular doctor checkups - e.g. stress importance of regular diabetes review, regular pap smears, etc.

Family Doctor Service has an onsite: Dietitian, Podiatrist and Audiologist

A comprehensive range of specialist services is available at Launceston General Hospital, only 5km from the surgery.

DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES

Our surgeryoffers in-house pathology. Radiology is 5 minutes away

OTHER CLINICAL SERVICES

Minor procedues, iron infusions, skin checks, haemorrhoid removal, venusections

PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS

Our surgery services a population of about 6000 patients. The patients tend to be a mix of young families who have moved into the area, the middle aged and elderly.

BILLING ARRANGEMENTS

We primarily bulk bill about 90% of patients, including all concession card holders. Our standard private fee is $75.

PATIENT FLOWS

Our surgery normally schedule 15minute appointment slots with 25-30 appointments per day, by appointment only.

Our doctors average 25-35 patients per day and are generally booked out 3-4 days in advance.

TOWN/SUBURB FACILITIES

Launceston is a riverside city in northern Tasmania, Australia. It's famed for the Cataract Gorge, with panoramic views, walking trails, sculpted gardens and a chairlift. The Queen Victoria Museum, in a 19th-century railway workshop, has exhibitions on Tasmanian history. Its sister Art Gallery lies across the river, by sprawling Royal Park. The vineyards of the Tamar Valley stretch northwest along the Tamar River.

The temperate, 4-season climate features mild summers and cool winters with morning fog; weather can be changeable at any time of year. Outdoor concerts and local food and wine tastings from local wine producers and showcases independent and arthouse productions.

CONTRACT TERMS

A 2 year commitment is preferred, Hours: Monday-Friday, Rate: $150/hr guarantee for 6 weeks, 70%+GST, nursing home visits are an option.
