Surgery Overview:
The Cove Family Medical Centre is located in Patterson Lakes, in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. Patterson Lakes lies on the shores of Port Phillip Bay, 35 km from Melbourne's CBD, and is best known for its canal front living and laid back lifestyle. Our medical centre is perfectly positioned in the Harbour Plaza Shopping Centre which directly overlooks the Patterson river and marina. The shopping centre lies at the heart of the Patterson Lakes community and boasts a wide variety of shopping, dining and entertainment facilities.
Job Description:
We have an immediate position available for a VR or Non VR General Practitioner. This is a long-term position which offers great prospects for a doctor looking to build and expand his or her practice in a friendly and professional setting. We are flexible with respect to working hours and remuneration and recognise the need to strike a balance between work and family commitments. Our Saturday morning roster is shared on a 1 in 3 basis.
Surgery Layout:
The Cove Family Medical Centre has six consulting rooms, a fully equipped treatment room and onsite pathology. Allied health services are available next door. Shopping centre parking is available for our patients.
Clinical Services:
The CFMC provides a broad range of general practice medical services supported by an onsite Psychologist, a range of Allied Health services next door and a multidisciplinary Specialist clinic located directly above our medical centre. We have seven, (mostly part time) doctors, representing a FTE of 4.5 doctors. Allied health services located next door, or within walking distance of our surgery include podiatrist, dietitian and physiotherapy. We offer onsite pathology services six days a week. (Weekdays: 8am – 4pm weekdays, Saturdays: 8am – 11.30am) CFMC is closely supported by the multidisciplinary specialist clinic located directly above our medical centre. This provides our doctors with fast access to a variety of specialists for our patients. These include: Cardiologists (cardiac services with echo, stress ECG available onsite), Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Renal physician and a general physician. Close cooperation and support between the centres allows a more efficient patient referral process, helping both our patients and doctors.
Administration:
The Cove Family Medical Centre is a privately owned, fully accredited (Level 5) medical practice which is open Monday to Friday: 8am until 7.30pm, Saturdays & Sundays: 8.30 – 11.30am. Our six consulting rooms are used by three to four doctors every day, who are supported by five part time receptionists and two nurses. Our support/reception staff have been working at the clinic for many years and offer a friendly service to our patients and very experienced level of support to our doctors. Patterson lakes is classified as RA1 Major City and is not a DPA. We are a fully computerised medical practice, using Best Practice. Appointments are normally scheduled in 15 minute time slots but this is of course flexible, depending on the needs of our patients.
Medicare Status:
RA1 Inner Metropolitan. Not DPA
Treatment Room:
We have a well-equipped treatment room with one surgical bed. All minor procedures are performed in this room. We employ two nurses (one RN & one EN) with an overlapping roster to provide maximum support to our doctors.
Surgery Billing:
We are a mixed billing clinic with the current standard consultation fee priced at $70.00. Our doctors also provide Occupational Health services to local industry.
Circumstances:
We recently lost a loyal doctor who is undertaking a rural rotation for the next few years. We have enough unmet patient demand to keep 1-2 doctors busy.
