Newport Medical Dental

Surgery Overview:
Newport Medical Dental is a combined medical and dental practice that has been established in the centre of Newport since 2014. The medical practice is located within a large, modern premises next door to a pharmacy in the middle of Newport’s central business district. The practice is ideally positioned in the main shopping strip of Newport with shops, restaurants, cafes and the beach all within an easy walking distance. The practice principal currently divides his time between a medical practice in Western Sydney and Newport Medical Dental. The practice has a strong patient following and is booked out constantly. Our medical practice currently has only one doctor consulting on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. Given that Newport has a shortage of doctors and a high level of unmet patient demand, we believe there is significant scope for us to expand our medical services. We have the capacity in our current premises to accommodate up to 5 GPs or a mix of GPs and allied health services. With the closure of Mona Vale hospital, the nearest major referral hospital is the new Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest. There is still a wide range of consulting specialists located on the Northern Beaches.
Job Description:
We would be looking for a VR GP, ideally on a full-time basis. With the current level of patient demand we are confident of filling the doctor’s schedule within a month of commencement. Remuneration is at competitive market rates of 70%, plus a percentage of other profits. A retainer of $150 per hour will be paid for the first three months. Doctors will maintain full autonomy over your clinical decisions and treatment philosophies and have an active say in infrastructure and equipment required to pursue your own clinical interests. We are flexible with working hours and are happy for a doctor to commence part time and work up to full time. We have an urgent need for Wednesdays and Fridays. DWS doctors are welcome to apply if they are willing to work weekdays 6-9pm and on Saturday/Sunday.
Surgery Layout:
We have a large, modern premises with 5 consulting rooms, 1 bed treatment room for minor procedures, conference facilities, a staff room, onsite staff parking & disabled access. The practice is air conditioned throughout and very well equipped with modern equipment. We are fully computerized, using Medical Director & Pracsoft, and have fibre internet access. Our onsite dental practice has an additional 3 consulting rooms plus head & neck radiology. Pathology is located close by – 200 meters and radiology is only 5 minutes away in Mona Vale.
Clinical Services:
We are a broad-based general practice offering onsite: dental & cosmetic services, head & neck radiology, a psychologist and Australian Hearing. On commencement of a new GP we will be in a position to bring the surgery up to full capacity with the addition of new onsite services such as; nursing, allied health, pathology and imaging.
Administration:
We use Medical Director & Pracsoft software and are fully accredited with AGPAL. We are not located in an area of need and do not have DPA status.

Treatment Room:
We have a small 1 bed treatment room containing a height adjustable bed, ECG & vital signs diagnostics and we are equipped for minor procedures. We do not currently have a nurse at the practice but will be more than happy to employ one as our GP services expand.
Surgery Billing:
We are primarily a bulk billing practice but are happy to offer a new GP full autonomy to privately bill if they wish.
Circumstances:
Our practice is expanding due to workload and patient demand. Our GP works across 2 practices and is only here on a part time basis. Another GP can take advantage of the existing patient base, the regular demand of new patients & all the patients we have to turn away when our doctor is not here.
