SURGERY OVERVIEW

Berkeley Vale Medical Centre was first established in 1987 on the shores of Tuggerah Lake in the Central Coast of NSW. We have two medical centres within close proximity to each other: Berkeley Vale Medical Centre and Jetty Medical Centre. Our two medical centres have developed a strong reputation in the local community due to our longevity (35 years) and our high standard of holistic family medical care. Both of our medical practices operate largely as one with full electronic integration and our doctors routinely consult from both practices, according to the needs of our patients.

Berkeley Vale Medical Centre is positioned in a small shopping complex just 500 metres from the shores of Tuggerah Lake and nestled between the lakeside communities of Chittaway Bay and Berkeley Vale. We are a training practice with a regular annual crop of medical students and registrars working closely with our very experienced permanent GPs.

SURGERY OWNERSHIP

Our surgery is owned by a group of four doctors who have worked together for more than 25 years.

OUR DOCTORS

We currently have nine doctors working between our Berkeley Vale and Jetty Medical Centres. We have a great mix of female and male doctors. Their level of experience ranges from over 25 years to those recently Fellow’ed. We have a warm & friendly group of doctors, who often go for a lunchtime surf together.

MEDICARE STATUS

We are located in a metropolitan, MMM level 1 region. Our Berkeley Vale Medical Centre holds current DPA status.

SURGERY LAYOUT

Our Berkeley Vale practice has 5 consulting rooms and a treatment room. All consulting rooms have individually controlled aircon and four have windows for natural light. Our Staff room is equipped with amenities such as fridge, microwave, small appliances and tea/coffee. The medical centre has a public carpark directly outside for use by staff and patients.

SURGERY ROUTINE

Berkeley Vale Medical Centre is open Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm. Saturdays has one surgery open with doctors, on a rotating roster of 1 Saturday in approx. 8. We are able to provide care for gynaecological procedures such as IUD insertion, excisions, laceration repairs, incision and drainage, ECG, ABI doppler. ADMIN SETUP

Admin support is headed by a partnership of experienced Practice Manager and Office Managers, complemented by a team of experienced reception staff. We strive to be a paperless practice. All files are fully computerised since 2010 and both surgeries share the same database meaning that patients can be seen seamlessly at either of our sites. We are fully accredited until mid-2023. Our practice management software is Best Practice. Our staff are proficient in use of Medicare systems including HPOS, AIR and PRODA.

SKILLS OR INTERESTS SOUGHT

We are looking for a very family-oriented GP who is passionate and caring about the members of their community. Our ideal doctor would have a broad range of clinical skills, but we are happy to cater for any specific clinical interests you wish to pursue.

CIRCUMSTANCES

We have a combination of growing patient demand in the area as well as a doctor looking to retire. Some of our other long term doctors are also wishing to slowly wind back their hours with a view to semi-retirement in the future.

CONTRACT TERMS

We have the capacity to take on 2-3 new doctors. Any new doctors would ideally be available for 8-9 sessions/week between both sites as well as a share of our rotating (1:8) Saturday roster. Market competitive remuneration rates would be offered. Partnership opportunities may be available after a qualifying period. Whilst we are looking for a permanent doctor we would be happy to consider a locum provided they have a view to a permanent position.
