Primary Care Medical Clinic in Harvey Bay is looking for a new permanent GP to join their brand new surgery. Located in a purpose built building in the heart of Harvey Bay’s health hub this surgery not only enjoys a very high patient demand but also close proximity to a full range of allied health, diagnostic and specialist services.

SURGERY OVERVIEW
Primary Care Medical Clinic was established about 20 years ago and has become very popular with locals in the Hervey Bay region and its environs. We recently relocated the surgery from Mallory Place to our new purpose build facility in Medical Place. Now with 9 consulting rooms, 3 treatment rooms and a large waiting area we are equipped to handle the health needs of our patients well into the future.
We are an accredited training practice with 6 very experienced General Practitioners and one registrar on staff. Our clinic is located in the heart of Harvey Bay’s Health Precinct, adjacent to the new St Stephens Private Hospital and a stone’s throw from Hervey Bay Hospital.
SURGERY OWNERSHIP
The surgery is a privately owned and managed by a husband and wife team.
SURGERY LAYOUT
We have 9 consulting rooms, a large waiting area, 3 separate treatment rooms, staff room and a designated room for mole mapping (Molemax). Our surgery is centrally air-conditioned with lots of onsite parking.
SURGERY FACILITIES
Our surgery hours are Monday to Friday: 8am to 7pm and Saturday: 8.30am - 2.30pm. We are closed on Sundays and Public holidays.
On average we have 6-7 doctors consulting on any given day, except for Saturdays that are rostered.
Our appointments are 10mins each but we offer flexibility to the doctors to practice at their own pace.
TREATMENT ROOM
We have 4 electric beds in total in all our treatment rooms and a designated Skin Cancer examination room.
ADMIN SETUP
Primary Care Medical Clinic have 3 Nurses, 6 admin staff, one Practice Manger and one Nurse (who is a Papsmear Provider). All of our files are computerised. We are a paperless practice using Medical Director &Pracsoft.
NURSING SERVICES
Our Medical Clinic has two Registered Nurses and one Endorsed Enrolled Nurse. One of our RNs is a papsmear provider.
Our nurses provide coverage on weekdays from 8am to 5.30pm. They are not in attendance on Saturdays.
ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES
We have no Allied health staff onsite but do have a physiotherapist and a hearing clinic in the same complex.
All other allied health services are available within Harvey bay, only 5 minutes away from our surgery.
SPECIALIST SERVICES
Primary Care Medical Clinic have no onsite specialists however we are within 1km of Harvey Bay Hospital and next door to St Stephens Private Hospital.
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
The practice has an onsite Pathology provider and radiology services are adjacent to the practice.
OTHER CLINICAL SERVICES
We provide skin cancer screening and excisions
PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS
Our patients come from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and occupations but Harvey Bay is known for a higher than average proportion of retirees and young families. Despite this we also have plenty of working aged locals in our patient base.
BILLING ARRANGEMENTS
We are a bulk billing practice for all Medicare rebateable services.
PATIENT FLOWS
We have a huge patient base and are fully booked out each day. Our patients book their appointments mainly the day before or on the day of service. Our doctors would average 4-6 patients per hour.
TOWN/SUBURB FACILITIES
Hervey Bay is a coastal area in Qld just about 290 kms from Brisbane the capital city of Qld. It is best known for its magnificent beaches, whale watching and as a jumping off point for trips to Fraser Island.
Hervey Bay also has a relatively low cost of living when compared to the bigger cities. It has a very relaxed feel to it and is a very friendly town. It has plenty of very good schools and is a great place to raise a family.
TOURIST INFORMATION
Hervey Bay is the stepping off point to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island, the location of some of the world’s best whale watching encounters … and it has arguably the safest, family-friendly beaches on the Queensland coast. Nestled halfway between Bundaberg to the North and Noosa to the South it is within easy driving distance of plenty of sporting and cultural pursuits.
