SURGERY OVERVIEW
Merrylands Family Practice was established in 2016 and has been growing strongly since. Now seeing over 600 patients per week. As the practice is new the facilities are first class. The practice is adjacent to the original Cincotta Discount Chemist which is one of the busiest pharmacies in Australia. SURGERY OWNERSHIP
The practice is privately family owned jointly by four health professionals that have had a long involvement with medical centre ownership and a long association with Merrylands.
SURGERY LAYOUT
Merrylands Family Practice has eight consulting rooms, a two bed treatment room, pathology collection room, nurses room, administration office and large tea room.
The practice is fully air conditioned and as the practice was recently built all the facilities are modern and at a very high standard.
SURGERY FACILITIES The opening hours are 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
Most days there are 2 to 3 practitioners on and standard appointments are 15 minutes although doctors can arrange their appointments how they prefer.
The practice uses Best Practice software and it is 100% paperless.
TREATMENT ROOM Merrylands Family Practice has a 2 bed treatment room, immunisation fridge, oxygen, CPR, wound dressing trolley and equipment, ear syringe equipment, ECG, spirometry, iron infusion equipment, doppler and other standard equipment you would find in a well appointed treatment room.
ADMIN SETUP There is a dedicate practice manager and six administration staff.
The practice is fully accredited.
NURSING SERVICES
Merrylands Family Practice a full time RN that work in the treatment room providing complete nurse coverage.
The nurse is also trained to complete GPMP’s/TCAs/Health Assessments/Cycle of Care etc.
ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES
The practice is co-located with a late night Cincotta Discount Chemist.
In addition the practice has a physiotherapist and a podiatrist.
SPECIALIST SERVICES
There is a visiting audiologist that comes to the practice regularly.
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
There is a pathology collection service at the practice (Clinical Laboratories).
Imaging is located directly behind the practice.
OTHER CLINICAL SERVICES
The doctors provide skin cancer screening and preventative health checks including womens’/mens’/kids health checks.
PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS
Merrylands has a large migrant population with many nationalities represented.
There are a large number of young families as well as elderly patients as there are a number of age facilities in the region.
The area has a large amount of chronic disease patients.
BILLING ARRANGEMENTS
Merrylands Family Practice is a bulk billing practice but due to the prevalence of patients with a chronic disease there is a good opportunity to engage in GPMPs etc and the average of billings per patient at the practice is around $55 per patient.
PATIENT FLOWS
There is strong patient demand in the area and being located adjacent to one of the largest discount pharmacies in Australia ensures that there are always lots of new patients.
The practice averages approximately 5 patients per hour. A new doctor would expect to see this many patients shortly are they commence.
TOWN/SUBURB FACILITIES
The practice is located on Merrylands Road which is about two kms from Parramatta. There is a major shopping centre two minutes walk from the practice.
Merrylands is a 25 minute drive West of the Sydney CBD and is located not far from the geographical centre of the Sydney basin. SKILLS OR INTERESTS SOUGHT
The practice would like to attract a GP that is interested in family health. An interest in womens health would be advantageous.
There is a lack of skin cancer services in the area and this would be an excellent opportunity for a new doctor.
CIRCUMSTANCES
Due to the very strong new patient growth the current doctors are unable to meet demand. The practice has gone from zero patients two years ago to seeing 600 per week. This exceptional growth continues.
CONTRACT TERMS $150 per hour guarantee or at least 70%, whichever is higher.
Flexible hours and leave arrangements.
No onerous contracts.
