SURGERY OVERVIEW
Warrawong Medical Centre was established over 45 years ago and has been serving the community since. In 2017 the practice underwent a complete rebuild and the facilities are now first class. There are a large number of families where multiple generations have been coming to the practice. SURGERY OWNERSHIP
The practice is privately owned be four health professionals that have had a long involvement with medical centre ownership. The current owners purchased the practice from the three doctor partners to facilitate the partners desire to reduce their workload and move into retirement. The three former owners continue to work in the practice.
SURGERY LAYOUT
Warrawong Medical Centre has ten consulting rooms, a two bed treatment room, pathology collection room, nurses room, administration office and large tea room.
The practice is fully air conditioned and as the practice was recently rebuilt all the facilities are modern and at a very high standard.
SURGERY FACILITIES The opening hours are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12 noon on Saturday.
Most days there are 2 to 3 practitioners on and standard appointments are 15 minutes although doctors can arrange their appointments how they prefer.
The practice uses Medical Director software and it is 100% paperless.
The dedicated 30 bay car park and main road location means that it is convenient for patients and doctors.
TREATMENT ROOM Warrawong Medical Centre has a 2 bed treatment room, immunisation fridge, oxygen, CPR, wound dressing trolley and equipment, ear syringe equipment, ECG, spirometry, iron infusion equipment, doppler and other standard equipment you would find in a well appointed treatment room.
ADMIN SETUP There is a dedicate practice manager and six administration staff.
The practice is fully accredited.
NURSING SERVICES
Warrawong Medical Centre has three nurses (2RNs and 1 EN) that workin the treatment room providing complete nurse coverage.
The nurses are also trained to complete GPMP’s/TCAs/Health Assessments/Cycle of Care etc.
ALLIED HEALTH SERVICES
The practice is co-located with a late night Cincotta Discount Chemist and a large physiotherapy practice.
In addition the practice has a podiatrist and social worker.
SPECIALIST SERVICES
There is a visiting audiologist that comes to the practice regularly.
DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
There is a pathology collection service at the practice (Southern IML).
OTHER CLINICAL SERVICES
The doctors provide skin cancer screening and preventative health checks including womens’/mens’/kids health checks.
The practice also provides pre employment medicals, aviation medicals, return to work services.
PATIENT DEMOGRAPHICS
There are a large number of young families as well as elderly patients as there are a number of age facilities in the region. Due to the factories in and around the Port Kembla and Wollongong area the practice treats a lot of workers.
The area has a large amount of chronic disease patients.
BILLING ARRANGEMENTS
Warrawong Medical Centre is a bulk billing practice but due to the prevalence of patients with a chronic disease there is a good opportunity to engage in GPMPs etc and the average of billings per patient at the practice is over $60 per patient.
With doctors retiring there is a large patient demand and the opportunity to engage in chronic disease management. Our doctors regularly bill over $3,000 per day.
PATIENT FLOWS
There is a very large patient demand in the area. Due to the aging doctor population, not just in Warrawong Medical Centre, but in and around Warrawong there has been a drop in the number of doctors in the area.
The practice averages approximately 5 patients per hour. A new doctor would expect to see this many patients from the day they commence.
TOWN/SUBURB FACILITIES
The practice is located approximately 5 minutes from some of the best beaches in the world. There is a major shopping centre two minutes walk from the practice.
Warrawong is a 10 minute drive South of Wollongong and about 1.5 hours South of Sydney. SKILLS OR INTERESTS SOUGHT
The practice would like to attract a GP that is interested in family health. An interest in womens health would be advantageous.
There is a lack of skin cancer services in the area and this would be an excellent opportunity for a new doctor.
CIRCUMSTANCES
As the three former partner doctors of the practice move into retirement phase it is necessary to replace them. There is stronger patient demand than ever in the immediate area and Warrawong is currently a District of Workforce shortage demonstrating the need for additional GPs in the area.
CONTRACT TERMS $165 per hour guarantee or at least 75%, whichever is higher.
Flexible hours and leave arrangements.
No onerous contracts.
