After Hours Newcastle Medical Service has a vacancy for a permanent general practitioner in Newcastle, in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. Newcastle After Hours Medical Service is a surgery based after-hours service offering both in house and home visit consultations. Patients can call our after-hours service and make an appointment to see a doctor at the surgery or arrange a home visit. Surgery hours are 5.30pm to 9.00pm. Home visits commence from 6pm and go through to 7am and will occasionally include Nursing Home visits. Our home visit doctors are provided with a driver for security and a doctor’s bag. The bulk of home visits occur between 6pm and 2am.
Whilst we are flexible with the hours, our clinic currently requires a GP from 6pm to 9-10pm and Home Visit Service from 6pm through to 2.30am. The after-hours roster is currently shared between 8 doctors but given the strong patient demand there is plenty of scope for a full-time position. We are happy to accommodate a doctor for all or part of these hours. There is an Area of Need position available to accommodate doctors who are under 19AB or studying for their fellowship.
